Afreximbank Internship Program 2026 – Paid Global Internship for Young Africans (Monthly stipend of USD $1,000)
Share

The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has opened applications for its Internship Programme for 2026 — offering young Africans a chance to gain practical experience in trade, finance and economic development at a leading pan-African financial institution. This initiative is designed to nurture emerging talent, deepen understanding of African trade finance and support career growth in high-impact sectors.

What’s on Offer

  • A structured internship of up to 6 months, based at Afreximbank’s Group headquarters (primarily Cairo, Egypt) or other regional offices.
  • A tax-free stipend of USD $1,000 per month, and USD $500 housing allowance for qualifying international placements.
  • Return airfare to the internship location, accommodation support during induction, and visa facilitation for eligible interns.
  • Mentorship, department rotations, real-world exposure to structured trade finance, and a final intern report detailing learnings and contribution to Africa’s development.

Who Can Apply

  • Applicants must be students enrolled full-time in undergraduate or postgraduate programmes in a recognised institution of learning.
  • Must be nationals of one of Afreximbank’s member states, or students of African descent in the diaspora. Non-Africans with alignment to the bank’s mission may also apply.
  • Age range: 20-32 years in the year of application.
  • Fluent in English or French; working knowledge of the other is preferred; knowledge of Arabic or Portuguese is an added advantage.

 Application Details

  • Internships are offered twice a year (January and June intake) for durations of 3 to 6 months.
  • Application is open year-round via Afreximbank’s online portal.
  • The deadline for the 2026 batch is not strictly defined (open until positions are filled)

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official Afreximbank internships page: Afreximbank Internship Opportunities
  2. Prepare your application documents: cover letter, updated CV, valid passport copy, certified academic transcripts, institutional recommendation letter (specifying proposed internship period).
  3. Ensure your profile meets the eligibility criteria and submit via the online form.
  4. If selected, you will receive a conditional offer and will be required to accept within two weeks and provide personal insurance proof.
