The Akwa Ibom State Government has disbursed ₦361 million in business grants to 844 beneficiaries across Etinan, Nsit-Ibom, and Nsit-Ubium Local Government Areas, as part of efforts to strengthen small businesses and boost local economic growth.
The grants were distributed during the grand finale of the ARISE Town Square Meeting and Empowerment Series, a community-focused initiative aimed at supporting entrepreneurs, farmers, and households. According to the state government, the programme is designed to expand opportunities for small businesses, improve family livelihoods, and drive inclusive development at the grassroots.
Beyond the financial support, the government also announced fresh development directives to further improve infrastructure and security in the constituency. These include the dualization of the Afaha-Ofiong–Itreto Road and the construction of a new police station at Ikot Edibon. Officials explained that the projects are expected to enhance connectivity, boost economic activity, and strengthen safety in the area.
The empowerment series has been described as a practical step toward building resilience among small businesses while creating a pathway for more citizens to participate in economic growth. With the conclusion of the constituency tour, the state reiterated its commitment to advancing the ARISE Agenda and delivering sustainable development across Akwa Ibom.
