Akwa Ibom State Government has awarded a N400 million business grant to 780 beneficiaries, including physically challenged entrepreneur Mr. Jones Okon Akpan, under the Entrepreneurship Accelerator Programme initiated by Governor Umo Eno.
During the presentation ceremony at the Government House Banquet Hall in Uyo, Governor Eno emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship, directing special support for Mr. Jones Okon Akpan’s mobility and additional assistance.
Describing the beneficiaries as ambassadors of the program, Governor Eno urged them to prioritize their businesses over politics, highlighting the significance of the training received.
Acknowledging the governor’s support, Imoabasi Jacob of Ibom Leadership and Entrepreneurship Development assured that proper training would yield fruitful outcomes.
In her keynote address, Ms Nnena Ugwu from Pan-Atlantic University Lagos advised the beneficiaries to cultivate discipline and focus.
Chief Assam Assam SAN appreciated the governor for keeping campaign promises and advised beneficiaries to see the grant as a springboard to global entrepreneurship.
Expressing gratitude, Mrs. Ekaette Umoh and Daniel Esetang pledged to utilize the grant judiciously for business expansion and the state’s greater good.
Governor Eno previously pledged to boost the state’s economy by reviving the entrepreneurial spirit and constructing an international market in Ikot Ekpene to reduce the stress of entrepreneurs seeking raw materials.
