AWIEF Awards 2024: Celebrating Outstanding African Women Entrepreneurs

The Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) Awards 2024 recognized six remarkable African women entrepreneurs for their significant contributions to entrepreneurship, sustainable development, and economic growth. The ceremony, held on December 29, 2024, at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), South Africa, was the highlight of the AWIEF2024 Conference, a two-day event that drew over 500 delegates from 50+ countries.

Nigerian Entrepreneurs Honored

Two Nigerian women stood out among the 18 finalists:

  • Ifeoma Okonkwo, founder of Ifgreen Industries and Investment, won the Agri Entrepreneur Award for her work in agricultural innovation and sustainability.
  • Temitope Mayegun, founder of Avilla Naturelle, received the Social Entrepreneur Award for her impactful contributions to social entrepreneurship.

Other Winners

The awards also celebrated the achievements of women entrepreneurs from across the continent:

  • Young Entrepreneur Award: Mpho Hlongwane, South Africa.
  • Creative Industry Award: Thabo Makhetha-Kwinana, South Africa.
  • Empowerment Award: Creseldah Cassandra Ndlovu, South Africa.
  • Tech Entrepreneur Award: Ynes Hafi, Tunisia.

Former South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Naledi Pandor, was honored with a Lifetime Leadership Award for her impactful leadership and legacy.
