Baobab Nigeria Launches Internship Program for Youth
Share

Baobab Nigeria organized a one-day internship for members of the National Youth Service Corps and students as part of its 2024 Customer Service Week celebration. The program, announced on Thursday, offered training through its digital savings platform, Jollof+.

The internship provided participants with an immersive experience, allowing them to learn from industry experts across various departments, including finance, marketing, creative design, and cybersecurity. The day-long event included a career seminar, a tour of Baobab’s headquarters in Lagos, and networking opportunities with senior executives.

Eric Ntumba, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Baobab Microfinance Bank, emphasized the company’s commitment to empowering young Nigerians. He stated, “We are dedicated to empowering young Nigerians, not just through our financial products like Jollof+, but by offering them opportunities to gain real-world experience. This internship is part of our commitment to helping youth build skills and achieve their financial goals.”

The initiative was designed by Jollo+, a fast-growing digital savings platform, to help young customers develop essential career skills while emphasizing financial literacy and savings management.

Participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn from professionals in various fields. Intern Zachariah Michael noted, “I have learned a lot about digital marketing, especially content creation and social media strategy. I want to say a big thank you to the management and staff of Baobab Bank for giving me this opportunity.”

Opeyemi Oluwadare, a student from Obafemi Awolowo University, shared his thoughts on the Jollo+ app, stating, “My favorite feature of the Jollo+ app is the Ajo. This is because you can only withdraw twice before your maturity date. I like that because I will be conscious of my withdrawal. I will only withdraw if I need it.”

This internship initiative reflects Baobab’s broader effort to engage customers meaningfully and highlight the value that the Jollo+ app offers beyond financial savings.
