The British American Tobacco Nigeria Foundation (BATNF), in partnership with the Enterprise Development Centre, is all set to host the biennial Agribusiness Dialogue session for 2023.
Scheduled on November 16, 2023, at Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Ikeja, Lagos, this one-day event aims to address the challenges faced by smallholder farmers in the agricultural system.
With the theme “Turning Challenges into Opportunities: Establishing Sustainable Strategies and Pathways for Smallholder Farmers in the Agrifood System,” the dialogue will emphasize sustainable practices to boost productivity, not just in Nigeria but across the sub-region.
Featuring plenary sessions, breakout discussions, and engaging fireside chats, the event seeks to foster collaboration and develop strategies that empower smallholder farmers and all participants in the agricultural value chain.
The primary objective is to introduce effective agricultural practices and offer insights on navigating complex challenges within the agricultural landscape, aiming to enable farmers to thrive in this evolving sector.
The initiative by BATNF focuses on supporting rural smallholder farmers through various means such as financial aid, capacity enhancement, promoting inclusivity, facilitating market access, boosting agriculture-related enterprises, and ensuring access to clean water.
Since its establishment in 2013, BATNF has impacted over 1.2 million individuals through approximately 250 projects nationwide, supporting 44 institutions, and investing N2.4 billion in rural community development activities, leaving a significant mark across Nigerian communities.
