BIC, a leading global stationery brand, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening education outcomes in Nigeria, spotlighting teacher empowerment at the recently concluded ‘Let There Be Teachers’ Conference in Lagos, which also set a new Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of teachers.
With education positioned as a major driver of inclusive development and aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), BIC said it remains focused on improving learning conditions and ensuring access to quality education for Nigerian learners. The company aims to impact 250 million students globally by 2025 through classroom support, provision of writing tools, and interventions that inspire creativity among young people.
General Manager for BIC Nigeria, Anthony Amahwe, said the company views education as a foundation for national progress. “The belief that education is the backbone of progress and growth is rooted in BIC’s DNA,” he said. “This is a key driver for us to continue to support millions of students and teachers and play a key role in raising a generation capable of building sustainable and productive societies.”
Government participation at the event underscored the national urgency around education reforms. Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, emphasised the need to place teachers at the centre of systemic education transformation efforts.
Speakers and panelists at the conference discussed strengthening teacher capacity, integrating innovation and technology in learning, reforming policy frameworks, and elevating the status of teachers to drive long-term impact. The platform highlighted teacher development as a catalyst for national productivity and human capital growth especially as Nigeria works to grow its creative economy, skilled workforce, and MSME pipeline.
The conference reinforced BIC’s global initiative, ‘Writing Our Future, Together,’ which supports students in more than 180 countries and empowers educators with resources and tools needed to build sustainable classroom systems. In Nigeria, BIC continues to collaborate with foundations, organisations, and government institutions to elevate learning quality, host teacher training sessions, and improve education delivery.
For over 80 years, BIC has built its reputation on providing reliable and affordable stationery products across more than 160 countries, contributing to learning outcomes and creative development for young people globally.
