CAC Deletes 247 Fake Companies Over False RC Numbers
Share

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has removed 247 companies from its official database after discovering that they were operating with false Registered Certificate (RC) numbers.

The announcement was made in a public notice released on Friday through the Commission’s official X account. According to CAC, the affected entities were never duly registered as limited liability companies, and the RC numbers linked to them had never been assigned to any company. As a result, both their names and the alleged RC numbers have been permanently deleted from the national registry.

“The general public is hereby informed that the 247 companies listed have not been duly registered as limited liability companies. The RC numbers allegedly ascribed to them were never assigned to them or to anyone else. Consequently, their names and RC numbers have been removed from the database,” the Commission stated.

CAC stressed that since these entities do not have legal corporate status, any business dealings with them would not enjoy protection under the law. The move, the Commission explained, is part of wider efforts to safeguard the integrity of Nigeria’s company registry and protect the public from fraudulent operators.

A review of the list shows that the delisted entities cut across different industries, with some claiming registration dates as far back as the early 1990s. Examples include companies allegedly operating under names such as Dwell Space Limited, Vourla Petroleum/Gas Limited, Startrek Traveler Limited, Rychado Global Malls Limited, Diamond Construction Engineering Limited, Adrose Gas Limited, and Bal-Vac Mining Limited.

While CAC did not indicate whether legal action will follow against promoters of the affected entities, it urged the public to exercise caution and avoid any business transactions with them.

The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s business environment by ensuring that only duly registered companies operate within the country’s legal framework.
