Call For Application: NLNG Prize for Science Award 2025 ($100,000 Prize Reward)

The Nigeria Prize for Science celebrates excellence in scientific breakthroughs and honours scientists from anywhere in the world, who help find solutions to a local or ‘Nigerian’ problem, as defined and advertised by the Advisory Board for the prize.

The Nigeria LNG award is an annual prize aimed at stimulating the advancement and application of science and technology. A sum of $100,000 will be provided for the winner of the competition, in addition to several other prizes.

The 2025 NLNG Prize for Science Award is administered on behalf of Nigeria LNG Limited by the Advisory Board for Science.

The Prize is an annual prize aimed at stimulating the advancement and application of science and technology. It is expected that the quest for a prestigious prize in science will improve science and technology in Nigeria, resolve issues that are germane to development of the country and help improve the standards of living.

Entries are invited from scientists and innovators worldwide for advancing scientific solutions to a prescribed problem as captured by the theme for the year, Innovations and Technologies for Reducing the Effects of Climate Change.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the Nigeria LNG (NLNG) Prize for Science Award:

 

  • The award is open to scientists and innovators worldwide (Nigerians and non-Nigerians) involved in the application of science to proffer innovation and technologies for reducing the effects of climate change
  • Members of the Advisory Board or Panel of Judges or their relatives are not allowed to enter their works for the Science Prize during their year of service as well as the following year.
  • Nigeria LNG Limited staff or their family members ineligible to enter the prize during their years of service and five (5) years post-service.
  • The work should be of outstanding merit and should have advanced the frontiers of knowledge and/or provide an innovative technology for reducing the effects of climate change.
  • The entry should be a completed scientific work, substantiated by either a proof of concept or tangible societal impect.
  • Only one entry can be submitted by an individual or group
  • All materials in support of the entry must be submitted within the time stipulated

  • As the intention is to recognize the most relevant and effective solution to a prescribed problem for which Nigeria benefits, works of collaboration by two or more persons are also welcome.
  • Only one entry per contestant(s) is permitted per competition year.
  • Entries not submitted by the stated deadline and according to stated conditions shall not be considered.
  • The prize will be awarded for no other reason than excellence.
