The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) is proud to announce the launch of the Biomanufacturing Fellowship Program 2025. This prestigious program is designed to equip employees of biomanufacturing companies with the advanced competencies necessary to strengthen Africa’s biomanufacturing sector, as outlined in the Vaccine Research & Development and Vaccine Manufacturing Competency Frameworks developed by Africa CDC.
The fellowship offers a unique opportunity for participants to gain two years of invaluable theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in biomanufacturing and Research & Development (R&D) industries. Fellows will have the chance to specialize deeply in an area of their choice, while also acquiring leadership, mentorship, management, resource enterprise planning, and entrepreneurship skills.
Importantly, participants are not required to resign from their current jobs but will be expected to travel periodically for short courses and specialized trainings.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Africa CDC Biomanufacturing Fellowship Program 2025, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be citizens of an African Union (AU) Member State.
- Must be citizens of an AU Member State that has an active vaccine manufacturing company.
- Must possess a valid passport.
- Must be willing to allocate time for virtual and in-person training sessions and travel as necessary.
- Must be able to secure a leave of absence from their employer for training activities.
- Must submit a support letter from their employer confirming permission and commitment to the program.
- Must hold a minimum of a Master’s degree in one of the following or closely related fields:
- Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences
- Biotechnology
- Chemistry and Biochemistry
- Biochemical Engineering

Africa CDC will fully fund selected fellows throughout the program. Benefits include:
