The SDGs Campus Ambassador Programme is a 10-week leadership program for students in the tertiary institution, aimed at educating, transforming their mindset and raising their commitment to becoming global leaders and active changemakers for sustainable development.

The SDGs Campus Ambassadors Programme recognizes the pivotal role that students in tertiary institutions play in shaping the future. As future leaders and influencers, their mindset, commitment, and actions can significantly impact the trajectory of sustainable development. This 10-week leadership program aims to educate, transform, and empower students to become global leaders and active changemakers dedicated to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The overarching objective of the SDGs Campus Ambassadors Programme is to nurture 10 million socially responsible leaders by 2030, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and passion needed to spearhead sustainable development initiatives. They aim to elevate awareness and comprehension of the SDGs in over 5000 tertiary institutions in Africa; encouraging active participation in community-based projects aligned with specific SDGs, fostering a tangible sense of social impact and responsibility.

By instilling a profound understanding of the SDGs, fostering leadership skills, and catalyzing the initiation of impactful community-based projects, the program seeks to plant the seeds of lasting change, and amplify awareness of the SDGs within their respective communities and institutions.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in tertiary institutions, including universities, colleges, and polytechnic.
  • The program will cater to tertiary institution students aged 16 to 25 and should have a good command of the English language, as the program will be conducted in English.
  • The program welcomes diverse academic disciplines and majors, reflecting a broad spectrum of knowledge and interests.
  • The Geographic Diversity encompasses students from various African countries including urban and rural representation to ensure inclusivity.
  • Applicants must demonstrate interest in and commitment to sustainable development goals.
  • Intending applicant must show willingness to take on responsibilities, potential to emerge as a leader and participate actively in the program
  • They encourage participation from students with disabilities, promoting an inclusive environment.
  • Applicant should demonstrate leadership potential and a strong commitment to making a positive impact in their respective institution.

  • Ambassadors will have access to experienced mentors who provide guidance on leadership development and career pathways.
  • Ambassadors will have the opportunity to lead and implement community-based projects aligned with specific SDGs, making a tangible impact within their institutions and local communities.
  • Participants will possess in-depth SDG Understanding and will develop skills to effectively communicate and advocate for sustainable development goals within their institutions.
  • Access to a network of like-minded individuals, mentors, and professionals in the field of sustainable development from other African countries.
  • Ambassadors will receive certificates of excellence for program completion and recognition for outstanding projects.
