Call For Applications: Allan Gray Makers StartUp Academy 2024

The Allan Gray Makers StartUp Academy is a fully funded 8-month incubation program for aspiring artisan entrepreneurs in the Plumbing and Electrical trades. Program participants will receive business training and support to start their businesses. The program will be full-time and in-person, starting on April 15, 2024.

The Program Content includes:

  • Training in Entrepreneurial Mindset, New Venture Creation, Marketing and Sales, Business Management, Financial Management, Branding, E-skills for business and Personal Mastery.
  • Opportunities to work in teams and network with other businesses.
  • Access to Personal Mentorship, Business Shadowing, Industry-Expert Coaches and Business Advisory.
  • Access to markets with a focus on making your first sale.
  • Access to Office Space.
  • Support to start your business and to write your Trade test.
  • Graduates have access to life-long support.

Costs

  • The StartUp Academy is funded by Allan Gray Makers. This means that all program costs are covered, including a basic transport allowance and all you’re expected to contribute is your commitment, your time, and your energy!

Eligibility

  • You can apply if you are between 18-34 years.
  • Must be a South African citizen or hold a permanent residence status.
  • Must have completed a relevant learning program in the Plumbing or Electrical Trades with N6 and 18 months apprenticeship.
  • Must qualify to take a trade test (having a trade test certificate is advantageous).
  • Be in any of these locations: Gauteng (Johannesburg City, Ekurhuleni City, Mogale City and Ruimsig), Mpumalanga (Gert Sibanda Municipality) Kwa-Zulu Natal (Ethekwini District) and Eastern Cape (Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan)
  • Industry: Plumbing & Electrical.
  • Intentions: Desire to start their own business.
