The Data Science Fellowship Program offers a unique opportunity for aspiring data scientists to hone their skills, gain practical experience, and make meaningful contributions to real-world projects. The Data Science Fellowship Program is part of the Kaduna State’s Data Revolution Plan aimed at strengthening the coordination in the collection and use of data for evidence based decision making.

The Click-On Kaduna Data Science Fellowship Program is a digital skills and development program implemented by the Kaduna State Bureau of Statistics (KDBS) to train world-class data management professionals. The fellowship trains young people in data science and the use of modern tools to improve public policy and decision-making in Kaduna State. The Data Science Fellowship Program is part of the Kaduna State Data Lab Project, jointly implemented by the Kaduna State Government, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Natview Foundation for Technology Innovation.

Program Details

  • The program is expected to last for six months. Participants would have an opportunity to work closely with the Amina J. Mohammed SDGs Data Lab under the Kaduna State Bureau of Statistics. Fellows will also work with MDAs, especially the State Ministry of Health and other agencies, to support data-coordinating efforts that will have an impact on society.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Age: 18–35 years, except for exceptional cases.
  • Location: Applicants must be resident in Kaduna State.
  • Academic Qualifications: Graduate of Tertiary Institutions in any of the STEMS courses particularly: Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Physical Sciences, and Health-related disciplines. Undergraduates within the STEM fields identified who are doing their 6-month to 1-year Internships are also encouraged to apply.
  • Competency Level: We are looking for people with the following skills:
  • Basic Computer Knowledge
  • Basic Knowledge of using Data & Understanding of Microsoft Excel
  • Problem-Solving Skills
  • Communication Skills (Written and Verbal English).
  • Gender: During the selection process, 50% of gender balancing and distribution will be considered.
