Call For Applications: Food Safety Innovations in Africa ( Up to €600,000 in Funding)

FS4Africa, a Horizon Europe-funded initiative, has launched its first Open Call to fund modern, Africa-based options that deal with meals security challenges. A complete of €600,000 might be distributed to at the least ten chosen tasks, every eligible for as much as €60,000 in funding.

This funding alternative goals to empower native actors to drive meals system transformation, particularly in the casual sector, to enhance well being, commerce, and sustainability outcomes throughout the continent.

About FS4Africa

Launched in 2024, FS4Africa works to:

  • Improve meals security and traceability throughout Africa
  • Tackle dangers like mycotoxins, pesticide residues, and microbial contamination
  • Build inclusive meals programs that profit each casual and formal markets
  • Incubate and scale meals security options by way of regional innovation hubs
  • Co-develop instruments and insurance policies that affect governments and markets alike

Who Can Apply?

The Open Call is open to single candidates solely (no consortia). Eligible entities embody:

  • Start-ups
  • Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)
  • Research establishments
  • Multidisciplinary organisations
  • Applicants have to be established in an African nation.

What Projects Are Eligible?

FS4Africa welcomes each new concepts and enhancements of present options that handle a number of of the next meals issues of safety:

  • Weak worth chain group, traceability, or meals authentication
  • Mycotoxin contamination in crops and feed
  • Pesticide residues in grains and greens
  • Microbial contamination (e.g., E. coli)
  • Food adulteration

What Does Funding Cover?

FS4Africa will cowl 100% of eligible prices for chosen tasks, which is able to run for 12 months beginning February 2026. All submissions have to be in English.
