Call For Applications: Giving Tuesday #YouthGive Africa Contest 2024 (up to $1,500)
Share

. The #YouthGive Africa Contest is an exciting opportunity for young Africans (ages 14-29) to share their personal stories of generosity and community impact on a global platform.

Hosted by GivingTuesday Africa, this contest celebrates African giving traditions and the spirit of youth-led change, offering cash prizes up to $1,500 for the most inspiring stories. Selected stories will be featured across #GivingTuesdayAfrica’s platforms, amplifying the voices of young changemakers across the continent and fostering a movement of generosity.

Why This Matters

Africa has a deep history of generosity, but too often, these stories go untold. The YouthGive Africa Challenge aims to change that by collecting, documenting, and sharing these stories. They want to celebrate the old and new ways of giving, showing the world that generosity is as much a part of the future as it is the past.

Your story can help educate others about the rich traditions of African philanthropy, inspire more people to give, and create a more inclusive approach to generosity that blends tradition with modern life. By participating, you’re not just entering a contest – you’re helping to build a movement.

Eligibility

  • Open to young Africans between the ages of 14 and 29.
  • Applicants must be residents or citizens of an African country.
  • Participants should have a personal story of generosity, community service, or giving back – whether through volunteering, sharing skills, or supporting their community.
  • Stories must be submitted in line with the contest guidelines.
  • No prior experience is required, just a genuine story of impact and a commitment to fostering generosity in Africa.

Benefits

Participants in the #YouthGive Africa Contest will gain several valuable benefits, including:

  • Financial Rewards: Cash prizes of up to $1,500 for the top stories.
  • Visibility and Recognition: Selected stories will be featured on #GivingTuesdayAfrica’s platforms, offering participants the chance to showcase their impact and inspire others across Africa and beyond.
  • Platform for Storytelling: Participants will have the opportunity to share their unique experiences of generosity and community service on a global platform.
  • Community Building: Connect with a network of like-minded young changemakers across the continent, strengthening Africa’s movement of youth-led giving.
  • Skill Development: By participating, youth will enhance their storytelling, communication, and advocacy skills, contributing to personal and professional growth.

Application

The application involves sharing a personal story of generosity or community impact, following the provided guidelines on the site. All entries must be submitted by the deadline of November 30, 2024.

 Deadline: November 30, 2024.
