If you’re passionate about climate action, environmental policy, or international development — the GCF Internship Programme offers a rare chance to join a global team working on climate finance solutions. GCF, the world’s largest multilateral climate fund, is offering internships at its headquarters in Songdo, South Korea for 2026.

This is a unique opportunity to gain international experience, contribute to climate projects, and build a career in global climate finance.

What the Internship Offers (Benefits)

  • Monthly stipend: recent internship listings at GCF show compensation up to USD 1,600/month for some roles.
  • Global health insurance: interns receive comprehensive health coverage.
  • Round-trip airfare (for international interns) and relocation support when applicable.
  • Six-month internship duration, with the possibility of a six-month extension depending on performance.
  • Hands-on exposure to climate finance, policy, and global environmental work — working across units such as investments, governance, risk management, sustainability, and operations.
  • International work environment with colleagues from diverse backgrounds — a strong boost for your global networks and resume.

Who Can Apply (Eligibility Criteria)

GCF welcomes applications from all nationalities, with a strong encouragement for qualified candidates from developing countries.

You should be either:

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD programme, OR
  • A recent graduate (recently completed a relevant degree)

Fields of study or interest that align with GCF’s mandate are most relevant, including — but not limited to — climate change & sustainability, environmental sciences, economics & finance, international development, policy, law, public policy, project management, or related disciplines.

Excellent English proficiency is required (additional languages may be an asset).

Duration & Location

  • Initial Duration: 6 months (with possible extension to 12 months)
  • Location: Headquarters in Songdo, Incheon City, Republic of Korea (in-person, on-site)

How to Apply & Application Steps

  1. Visit the portal and create a candidate profile.
  2. Look for current internship postings during the recruitment window. Internship adverts appear there each recruitment cycle.
  3. Prepare your application materials: updated CV/resume, cover letter (motivation & interest in climate/sustainability), academic credentials or recent-degree certificate, and any relevant work or academic records.
  4. Submit before the stated deadline. GCF doesn’t charge any application fee.
  5. If shortlisted, expect an online assessment or video interview, followed by a panel interview — final selections typically announced a few months ahead of internship start.
