Application closes October 23, 2022. 

The second Africa HealthTech Challenge by the HealthTech Hub Africa closes soon for application.

The HealthTech Hub Africa is an African-wide health technology accelerator with a physical co-working and community facility in Kigali, Rwanda.

The Hub is a component of a new investment initiative that intends to transform the impact of health technologies created by Africans for use in Africa and to aid in the rapid advancement of innovations in public health systems in close coordination with top government officials.

This challenge is looking for the most talented, high-impact innovators with solutions and business models that are concentrated on business-to-government and have the ability to significantly enhance population health in Africa.

A model for a public-private framework to expedite HealthTech Innovations for public health in Africa was established during the first year of the Hub initiative.

The Challenges

Cardiovascular Fitness: Lowering the population’s death toll from cardiovascular disease through improving screening, referral, diagnosis, and treatment.

Breast Cancer: Lowering the population’s death toll from breast cancer through improving detection, referral, diagnosis, and treatment.

Electronic Healthcare: Delivering preventative and curative health and care services remotely will improve quality, access to fair care, and digital literacy.

Data-driven decision-making is improved: Enhancing the capacities of the health system and preparing for epidemics with better-integrated health information.

Benefits

Mentoring from two unpaid mentors at each startup, each with a background in technology and population health.

Executive summaries can be created and existing and new business models can be structured and improved with coaching and access to an interactive platform for growth-level help.

Professional master classes.

Practices for pitches.

Community Assistance.

Demonstrations of startup products and chances to pitch at the two yearly HealthTech summits in Kigali, Rwanda.

Invite to networking gatherings and hybrid events in Africa and elsewhere.

Who can apply?

Growth Startups and scale-ups from around the African continent with innovative business models that enable engagement with regional and national governments and aim to assist health systems in their digital transformation efforts.

Eligibility Criteria

All HealthTech startups are eligible to participate in the HealthTech Hub Challenge, subject to the following requirements:

Evidence of a company legally established in an African nation.

Through their solution, they amply illustrated the impact on population health.

Teams with at least two full-time employees may apply, and those with a more favorable gender balance will receive preference.

Startups must concentrate on one or more of the Hub’s four theme areas: breast cancer, cardiovascular health, virtual health and care, and data-driven decision-making optimization.

If chosen, growth startups cannot participate in another accelerator program in the same year.
