The Heirs Insurance Group has announced the Heirs Insurance Hackathon 2026, a national innovation challenge open to students in Nigerian tertiary institutions. The hackathon is designed to uncover bold, practical, and scalable ideas that apply Artificial Intelligence (AI) to solve real-world problems within Nigeria’s insurance industry.

This initiative reflects Heirs Insurance Group’s commitment to youth innovation, digital transformation, and the future of insurance in Africa.

What the Hackathon Is About

The Heirs Insurance Hackathon challenges students to develop AI-powered solutions that can address key gaps in the Nigerian insurance ecosystem. Participants are expected to think beyond theory and propose ideas that can improve efficiency, customer experience, risk management, claims processing, inclusion, and trust in insurance services.

Who Can Apply

  • Students currently enrolled in Nigerian tertiary institutions
  • Individuals or teams with an interest in:
    • Artificial Intelligence
    • Technology and innovation
    • Insurance, fintech, or digital services
  • Beginners and advanced innovators are welcome, provided the idea is AI-driven and problem-focused

Challenge Focus

Participants are required to:

  • Develop innovative ideas using Artificial Intelligence
  • Address real-world challenges in the Nigerian insurance industry
  • Present solutions that are practical, scalable, and impactful

Prizes to Be Won

Winners of the Heirs Insurance Hackathon 2026 will share ₦9 million in cash prizes:

  • 🥇 1st Prize: ₦5,000,000
  • 🥈 2nd Prize: ₦3,000,000
  • 🥉 3rd Prize: ₦1,000,000

Beyond cash rewards, participants gain industry exposure, visibility, and the opportunity to engage with professionals shaping the future of insurance in Nigeria.
