Call For Applications: MacArthur Foundation Round Three of 100&Change Competition ( Up to $100 Million Grant)
Share

The MacArthur Foundation is thrilled to announce the launch of the third round of its groundbreaking 100&Change competition. This initiative offers a single $100 million grant to support transformative solutions to one of the world’s most critical social challenges. Applications are open from May 22 to August 15, 2024, encouraging organizations worldwide to present bold, scalable solutions.

Why 100&Change?

Traditional grants often fall short in addressing large-scale issues. By funding at a level significantly higher than typical philanthropic grants, 100&Change aims to tackle problems with the potential for profound, lasting impact. This competition is unique in its global and thematic openness, inviting proposals from all sectors and regions.

New Focus on Equity

For this round, MacArthur is integrating the “just” criterion, emphasizing the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all proposed solutions. This aligns with the Foundation’s Just Imperative, ensuring that no topic is excluded from these essential commitments.

Previous Winners Making a Difference

  • Round One (2017): Sesame Workshop and International Rescue Committee’s Ahlan Simsim program, supporting early childhood education for displaced children in the Syrian response region, has reached over 27 million children across the Middle East and North Africa.
  • Round Two (2021): Community Solutions’ Built for Zero initiative aims to end homelessness in 75 U.S. communities by 2026. Sixty-four communities have already achieved quality data systems to reduce homelessness effectively.

How to Apply

  • Eligibility: Open to organizations globally, without thematic restrictions.
  • Criteria: Proposals must be impactful, evidence-based, feasible, durable, and just.
  • Application Deadlines: Register by August 15, 2024, and submit complete applications by September 5, 2024.

A special organizational readiness tool is available to help potential applicants assess their suitability for the competition.

Partnership for Global Impact

In partnership with its nonprofit affiliate Lever for Change, MacArthur continues to innovate in philanthropy. Lever for Change has already influenced over $2.2 billion in funding and supported 175 organizations globally. This collaboration aims to expand support for top-ranked projects, ensuring real and measurable global progress.

“We believe $100 million will inspire communities worldwide to dream big and solve critical problems of our time. We’re eager to see how the next group of applicants will drive change in lasting and meaningful ways.” – John Palfrey, MacArthur President

Deadline: August 15, 2024
