The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is accepting applications for its 2026 Skill Development Training and Empowerment Programme, a practical technical skills initiative aimed at empowering youths with hands-on expertise, market-ready certifications, financial support, and starter resources to enhance employability and entrepreneurship in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria.

Overview of the Program

This programme provides selected participants with:

  • Industry-focused, hands-on technical training
  • Monthly stipend to support trainees during the programme
  • Certification upon successful completion
  • Starter packs or tools to help graduates begin work or start micro-enterprises

One of the key training offerings for 2026 is Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Vehicle Conversion Training, designed to build practical skills in an evolving transport and energy sector.

Who Can Apply (Eligibility)

Applicants should generally meet the following criteria:

✔ Indigenous to any of the nine Niger Delta states: Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo, and Rivers.
✔ 18–35 years old.
✔ Minimum educational qualification: SSCE/WAEC in science-related subjects, OND (Sciences), or a recognised trade/test certificate.
✔ Technical qualification related to automotive, mechanical, or allied trades is an advantage.
✔ Fresh graduates in engineering or related technical areas with interest in the training focus (e.g., CNG conversion) may apply.
✔ Beneficiaries of previous NDDC Skill Programmes are not eligible for this cycle.

Program Benefits

📘 Hands-On Technical Training

Participants are equipped with practical skills through structured, real-world training modules in areas such as CNG vehicle systems and other industrial trades.

💰 Monthly Stipend

Trainees receive a monthly stipend to support them financially throughout the training period, helping reduce barriers to participation.

📜 Recognised Certification

Graduates receive certification that can improve employability, credibility with employers, and opportunities for entrepreneurship.

🛠 Starter Pack (Where Applicable)

Some training streams include starter packs or tools, helping participants begin their technical work or small business after training.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official NDDC Skills portal:
  2. Register a new account or log in if you already have one.
  3. Complete the online application form with accurate personal, educational, and contact details.
  4. Submit your application online before the stated closing date. Only one submission per applicant is allowed.

⚠️ Important: Only selected candidates will be contacted and required to present original documents (e.g., certificates, ID) for verification before final selection.
