Applications are open for the QAPS Sustainability Innovation Challenge—a dynamic four-week holiday programme designed to spark creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration among Nigerian secondary school students. This exciting initiative invites young learners from both Junior and Senior Secondary School levels to form teams and tackle real-world environmental challenges that matter to their communities and the world at large. With a focus on clean energy, water conservation, and responsible plastic use, the challenge aims to nurture a generation of problem-solvers equipped with the tools to drive sustainable change.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Organised by QAPS, the challenge encourages student teams of five, each guided by a dedicated teacher mentor, to explore innovative solutions using cutting-edge technologies and strategies.
  • Each school can nominate up to two teams to participate, ensuring broader access while maintaining a strong mentorship structure.
  • Throughout the four weeks, participants will engage in hands-on learning, build practical skills in sustainability and innovation, and leverage generative AI to enhance their projects and understanding of global issues.
  • This immersive experience also includes interactive sessions with guest speakers and global industry experts who will offer insights, share experiences, and inspire students to think boldly about the future.

The challenge is more than just a competition—it’s a platform for personal growth and community impact. Students will develop soft skills like teamwork, communication, and leadership, all within a supportive and engaging environment. The best-performing teams stand a chance to win prizes worth a total of ₦1.5 million, with the top three teams earning ₦300,000, ₦200,000, and ₦100,000 respectively, along with official awards. Additional recognitions will be given for outstanding innovation, team spirit, and contributions that create tangible change in local communities. Every student who takes part will receive a certificate of recognition, celebrating their efforts and commitment to sustainability.

Registration for the QAPS Sustainability Innovation Challenge officially opens on June 23, 2025. Interested schools and students are encouraged to apply early to secure a spot in this inspiring programme.
