The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) and Bureau for Economic Research (BER) at the moment are accepting functions for the 2026 Economist Internship Programme—a full-time, paid alternative for South African economics graduates to obtain elite sensible coaching in macroeconomic evaluation.

This prestigious programme equips graduates with the abilities and expertise to work as economists in both the general public or personal sector. Successful candidates will work alongside skilled economists on the BER whereas formally employed by the SARB.

Eligibility Requirements 

Applicants should:

  • Be South African residents
  • Hold an Honours or Master’s diploma in Economics by January 2026
  • Have studied macroeconomics on the postgraduate stage
  • Be fluent in English
  • Possess glorious writing and communication abilities
  • Candidates shall be chosen in alignment with SARB’s dedication to workforce variety.
