Calling all African innovators! Are you passionate about design, sustainability, and tackling real-world challenges? The Solar Decathlon Africa Design Challenge 2024 is your chance to showcase your talent, collaborate with like-minded peers, and help shape the future of Africa’s built environment.

  • Compete: Join interdisciplinary teams and create innovative, net-zero building designs that address Africa’s unique needs, from climate resilience to affordability and community wellbeing.
  • Learn: Delve into cutting-edge building science with expert guidance and online resources. Master skills in architecture, engineering, and more.
  • Network: Build lasting connections with industry professionals, faculty mentors, and fellow Decathletes from across Africa and beyond.

Eligibility

  • Each team must be associated with one or more collegiate institutions and include at least one Faculty Advisor.
    • Multiple collegiate institutions may combine to form a team.
    • One Faculty Advisor may counsel multiple teams.
    • Each collegiate institution is permitted up to four Team Registrations.
  • Each team must have at least three students (see student qualifications Section).
    • One student must be designated as the Student Team Lead.
    • There is no maximum number of student team members.
  • At least one student and one faculty member from each Finalist Team are required to participate in the In-person finals.

By completing the application form, you’ll create your team’s official entry to the competition, allowing you to collaborate, submit project details, and compete for recognition on an international stage.
