StartGate is spotlighting opportunities for startups and young innovators, including the Tech Challenge, an open innovation competition where technology-focused ventures can solve real business problems and gain ecosystem support. The programs are designed to help early-stage teams build, test, and refine solutions in collaboration with industry partners, accelerating their path to impact and scale.

About the Tech Challenge

The Tech Challenge brings together startups and young innovators who are developing tech solutions for real-world operational and digital challenges in sectors such as banking, FinTech, data quality, and digital security. It is structured as a challenge-based innovation programme where applicants propose solutions to defined problem areas and, if selected, work with industry partners to co-create and pilot their solutions.

Key Challenge Areas

Startups and innovators are invited to address one or more of these:

  • Document fraud detection in KYC processes (strengthening security and compliance)
  • Data quality and consistency (improving reliability of customer data)
  • Secure dynamic link management (building sovereign digital link systems)

These themes emphasise practical solutions that can enhance digital trust, operational efficiency, and user experience in modern financial systems.

Why Apply (Benefits)

Selected startups and innovators will benefit from:

  • Real-world problem engagement: Work on use cases provided by established corporate partners.
  • Industry collaboration: Engage directly with innovation teams and business units to help refine and test solutions.
  • Visibility & ecosystem support: Gain exposure within strategic innovation communities and partner networks.
  • Pilot opportunities: Build prototypes with access to controlled data and operational environments for testing.
  • Pitch and selection experience: Finalists advance to pitch sessions before a selection panel of industry and innovation experts.

These elements combine to help tech ventures refine their product direction, build industry credibility, and potentially accelerate adoption of their solutions.

Who Should Apply (Target Participants)

This opportunity is suited to:

✔ Tech startups and small ventures with digital or data-centric solutions.
✔ Early-stage innovators and teams working on products in FinTech, data quality, security, or digital utility solutions.
✔ Developers and entrepreneurs with technologies in artificial intelligence, machine learning, secure link frameworks, or intelligent data systems.

There is no strict location restriction on applications, though the challenge typically engages ventures that can work collaboratively with ecosystem partners on defined use cases.

Application Details & Timeline

  • Submission deadline: 25 January 2026 (applications must be submitted by this date to be considered).
  • Pitch & selection: Shortlisted applicants present during a pitch session planned for late January 2026, where finalists are chosen for further engagement.
  • Ecosystem engagement: After selection, teams may continue working within the programme to co-create and test solutions.
