Call for Applications: SWEEAP Training Program For Women Entrepreneurs

Scaling Women’s Economic Empowerment through Affirmative Procurement Reforms (SWEEAP) Training Program

This project is implemented by DO Take Action with support from the Chevening Alumni Programme Fund (CAPF) and Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) This form is designed to identify and enrol eligible Women-Owned and Led Businesses (WOLBs) for participation in the Scaling Women’s Economic Empowerment through Affirmative Procurement Reforms (SWEEAP) initiative.

The SWEEAP project aims to empower women entrepreneurs with the tools, training, and mentorship required to successfully participate in public and private sector procurement opportunities. It also supports advocacy efforts for inclusive procurement policies that promote gender equity in economic participation.

Program highlight

Bidding for procurement contracts and developing winning proposals

Using technology to increase revenue and market visibility

Enhancing your social media presence and tracking consumer behaviour

Creating and managing a business website

Understanding affirmative procurement policies and strategies

Thriving in a fluctuating economy through automation and business restructuring

Networking with other women entrepreneurs and industry professionals

Eligibility Criteria:

Women Entrepreneurs: The business must be owned or led by a woman in Kano or Rivers State.

Commitment to Participation: Applicants must commit to attending all training sessions.

Informal or Early-Stage Businesses: Priority will be given to those seeking support in formalising their operations.

Financial Flexibility: No strict financial requirements—businesses with limited financial resources are encouraged to apply.

Willingness to Formalise: Participants should be open to formalising their business as part of the training.

Criteria 

Women-Owned Enterprises: At least 51% of the business must be owned by women.

Leadership Criteria: At least 20% women ownership with women in key leadership roles (e.g., CEO, COO).

Board Representation: Priority will be given to businesses with at least 30% female representation on their board.
