Call for Applications: The Future AgriHack Hackathon & Start-up Pitch

The Future AgriHack (which is one of the important highlights of the Future Agric Summit) is out to facilitate the development and Demo of innovative Agritech solutions through the annual StartPitch Hackathon, Future AgriHack. Young people across Africa with innovative ideas or existing startups are invited to come together to hack the future of Agric and present projects across the entire value chain to prospective investors, financiers, mentors, incubators, and accelerators.

Eligibility 

  • Africans from all backgrounds and genders are welcome to participate regardless of where they reside.
  • Should have a startup or be willing to build one to solve problems in the AgriTech space.
  •  Should be able to provide their own gadgets (computers) to participate in the hack.

The Future Agric Summit

Team Formation

  • It is expected that teams will build working applications, proofs of concept, or prototypes, as well as presentation or demo materials to explain, pitch, and present the application.
  • Teams can consist of two members to a maximum of 5 members including females.
  • Each team should have specific roles for each team member they present. Teams can include product managers and designers, software developers, business development strategists, and others.
  • Each team should include at least one female.
  • All participating teams should prepare to be available between December 13-15th for the Hackathon/Demo if selected. Unavailable teams would forfeit their space.

Thematic Areas 

  • Participants at the hackathon are required to create solutions around any of the following challenge themes.
  • Inflation: Stabilizing Food prices through technology
  • Combating the Effect of climate Change on crop rotation.
  • Facilitating Capacity Building on modern best practices for farmers and Agribusiness enthusiasts across Africa.
  • Effective Supply Chain Management
  • Saving the Earth from Another Drought event.
  • Pest Control in high and low yielding periods
  • Inventory at a glance.
  • My Earth, My Data: utilizing artificial intelligence to capture earth data and help farmers make informed decisions.

NB: Startup pitch participants are not limited by this.

Benefits
  • The top 15 teams would be selected to present at the finals.
  • The Three (3) Tops teams will be selected for awards with an exception of a tie which will result in making it four teams with up to ₦5M worth of prizes up for grabs
