The goal of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation in the next 3-4 years is to improve the country’s ranking on the WEF competitiveness index by solving some of these frictions using digital tools that will be developed at scale within 18-24 months.

Do you have ideas that can accelerate the growth of the domestic travel and tourism industry? Here’s an opportunity to develop digital tools that address some of the frictions experienced across the industry.

The #TourismHackathonNigeria competition is open to all Developers, Doers, Dreamers, Makers, Designers, Entrepreneurs with Nigerian citizenship. The top 5 applications will be selected to the Developer mini-campus at the UNWTO Global Tourism Conference on the 14th to 15th of November 2022.

Benefits

  • Winners stand a chance to win both cash and in-kind prizes.
  • The winner will get an all-expense paid trip to Madrid to pitch their solution at the UNWTO Innovation Challenge, they will also be accepted to accelerator programmes with access to mentorship and product support from partners.
  • Grand Prize Winners get an all-expense paid trip to Madrid, Spain to represent Nigeria at the UNWTO Innovation Challenge.
  • Acceptance into Acceleration program
  • Access to follow-up funding from BYCEP and partners
  • Mentorship from BYCEP and partners
  • Other benefits include access to partner companies looking to hire developers and project managers with experience building or managing enterprise applications.

How to apply

Applications are now open and you are encouraged to apply as an individual or as a team. Female representation on your team is an added advantage.

The deadline for application is 11:59pm on the 4th of November 2022.
