Call For Applications: UNFPA Somalia EmpowerHer Innovation Challenge 2024 ( Up to $6000 grant)

UNFPA Somalia EmpowerHer Innovation Challenge. The UNFPA understands that young entrepreneurs with a good social enterprise idea often lack resources to kick start it and are in need of support, stimulation and capacity building.

$2,000 to $6000 are allocated to support three social enterprises operating in Somalia. In fact, this grant is more than financial, you can expect a close collaboration with us in which we support on a rigorous basis.

All together, this is an investment into you, the bright leader with the best ideas on ending harmful practices such Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and Child, Early, Force Marriage (CEFM), it is an investment in your business and, ultimately, an investment into the community that you strive to improve.

Requirements

  • You must be a Somali Citizen.
  • Your business must be female-owned between the ages of 18 and 30 years old.
  • You must demonstrate an agile growth and learning mindset.
  • Your idea must be innovative and respond to any of the priority areas identified above.
  • You must be available to join all days of the Bootcamp from June 9th – 13th, 2024. 
  • You must be available to join an all-day pitching contest on June 18th, 2024
  • If selected for seed funding, you need to be able to commit to three months of incubation from July, August, and September to implement your idea.
  • You must be willing to showcase your idea through communication platforms to be determined by UNFPA.

Timeline:

  • The Application must be submitted in English by 11:59 PM on June 2, 2024.
  • Shortlisting will take place on June 3, 2024 
  • Interviews will take place from June 4, 2024 – June 5, 2024

Deadline: June 2, 2024.
