UNICEF has officially opened its 2025 Online Internship Program, offering students and recent graduates a fully remote opportunity to work with one of the world’s most respected humanitarian organizations. With a competitive monthly stipend of up to $1,700, this internship allows young professionals to gain meaningful experience while contributing to global efforts supporting children and vulnerable communities.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Education:
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or PhD program, or graduated within the past two years.

Skills and Experience:

  • No prior professional work experience is required.
  • Previous volunteer work, leadership roles in student organizations, or past internships are considered advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, independent work ethic are essential.
  • Must be proficient in commonly used digital tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar collaboration platforms.

Benefits:

Monthly Stipend: Up to $1,700, depending on location and funding.

Format: Fully remote, allowing participants to work from anywhere.

Duration: Between 6 and 26 weeks, depending on project and department needs.

Application Review: Rolling basis – early applications are strongly encouraged.

Start Date: Flexible, based on department requirements and applicant availability.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Responsibilities vary by department and project, but typical intern tasks may include:

  • Conducting background research and preparing analytical reports.
  • Supporting data collection, entry, monitoring, and evaluation processes.
  • Drafting content for newsletters, social media, reports, and publications.
  • Assisting in organizing and coordinating virtual meetings and events.
  • Participating in team briefings and contributing to cross-functional projects.
  • Interns will be integrated into day-to-day activities, attending virtual meetings and collaborating on key initiatives that directly impact UNICEF’s programs and operations.

Why Apply?

UNICEF’s internship program offers more than just financial support and remote flexibility. It’s an opportunity to:

  • Gain valuable insight into the workings of the United Nations and global NGOs.
  • Develop real-world skills in research, communications, project coordination, and data analysis.
  • Build a professional network with peers and professionals in the field of international development.
  • Strengthen your resume and enhance your eligibility for future UN or humanitarian careers.
  • While the internship does not guarantee employment at UNICEF or the United Nations, it serves as a significant stepping stone toward careers in the nonprofit, humanitarian, or public service sectors.
