Call For Applications: WASSMAS Agriculture Grant For Agro-Entrepreneurs ($10,000 Grant)
Share

The West African Support for Small and Mid-Scale Agro Startup (WASSMAS) is a non-governmental initiative focused on strengthening the agricultural sector by providing grants, technical support, and market access to small and mid-scale agribusinesses. The programme targets key areas of agriculture, including livestock farming, crop cultivation, fish farming, agro-processing, integrated farming, and small ruminants.

Through this grant, WASSMAS aims to empower farmers and agro-startups with modern farming knowledge, agribusiness management skills, sustainability practices, and digital agriculture tools, while also connecting beneficiaries to buyers, distributors, industry experts, and regional trade opportunities.

Why This Grant Matters

Access to finance remains one of the biggest barriers facing farmers and agro-entrepreneurs in West Africa. The WASSMAS Agriculture Grant provides not just funding, but also the technical guidance, skills, and market linkages needed to scale agricultural businesses, improve productivity, create jobs, and strengthen food security across the region.

Eligible Countries
The grant is open to applicants in selected West African countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, and others within the region.

Grant Value
Successful applicants can access funding ranging from $5,000 to $10,000, depending on the selected agricultural focus area.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must operate a small or mid-scale agricultural business within an eligible West African country.
  • Business location verification is required to confirm infrastructure and project feasibility.
  • Applicants must complete a five-minute eligibility quiz based on the selected grant category.
  • Submission of a clear business plan and detailed budget breakdown is required.
  • Proof of land ownership or a valid lease agreement must be provided.

Processing Timelines

  • Livestock farming and small ruminants projects are processed within 30 to 45 days.
  • Crop cultivation projects take 25 to 40 days.
  • Fish farming projects are processed within 35 to 50 days.
  • Agro-processing projects take 45 to 60 days.
  • Integrated farming projects take 50 to 70 days.

Funding Disbursement
Approved grants are disbursed in tranches, based on clearly defined project milestones, to ensure accountability and sustainable project execution.
