Call For Applications: Women Techsters Fellowship Class of 2025

The Women Techsters Fellowship program is a transformative initiative designed to empower young women and girls across Africa, ages 16 to 40, by providing them with essential technology skills. This FREE one-year experiential learning program focuses on bridging the gender gap in technology, ensuring equal access to opportunities for women and girls in the tech ecosystem.

For the 2025 cohort, the fellowship focuses on several high-demand technology career paths, including:

  • DevOps
  • Cybersecurity
  • Data Science and Engineering
  • Mobile Application Development
  • Product Design
  • Product Management
  • Software Development (both Front End and Backend)

Fellowship Structure

The fellowship is divided into two main phases:

  • Phase 1 (First 6 Months): Participants undergo intensive training that combines both technical skills and soft skills essential for success in the workplace. This foundational training prepares fellows for the demands of the tech industry.
  • Phase 2 (Last 6 Months): This phase emphasizes practical experience through various avenues such as:
    • Internships
    • Freelancing
    • Entrepreneurship
    • Volunteering
    • Mentoring

This hands-on approach ensures that participants can apply their newly acquired skills in real-world scenarios, enhancing their employability and entrepreneurial potential.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Women Techsters Fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a female aged between 16 and 40 years.
  • Reside in one of the participating African countries, which include Nigeria, Ethiopia, Egypt, South Africa, Kenya, and others.
  • No university degree is required; however, a basic understanding of digital literacy is beneficial.

The application process for the Women Techsters Fellowship is competitive, with only the top 3% of applicants being admitted. Interested candidates should submit their applications by January 31, 2025. Key points to remember when applying include:

  • Submit only one application; multiple entries will lead to disqualification.
  • After submission, applicants will receive a confirmation email regarding their application status after reviews are completed.
