Share

The Presidency has highlighted the benefits of the soon-to-be-launched National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) multipurpose identity card, urging Nigerians to embrace it.

Key Benefits of the Multipurpose Card

Access to Government Interventions:

The card will serve as a gateway for citizens to access government initiatives and social intervention programs.

Creditworthiness and Loan Access:

Cardholders will have verifiable credit scores based on their financial history, facilitating access to loans from government and financial institutions.

Financial Inclusion:

Aims to bring over 100 million Nigerians into the formal banking sector, addressing long-standing financial exclusion.

Enhanced Job Opportunities:

Employers, both government and private, will use the card to verify job applicants’ identities and ensure transparency.

Debit and Credit Card Options:

Users can opt for debit or credit functionalities linked to the card.

Streamlined Distribution Process

Request and Accessibility:

Nigerians must request the card, even though possessing a National Identification Number (NIN) remains mandatory.

Bank Partnerships:

The NIMC has partnered with banks nationwide to decentralize the collection process, allowing individuals to request the card from nearby bank branches.

Uniform Pricing:

The card will be issued at a standardized price across all distribution points.
