Share

In a bid to enhance access to cash through Over-The-Counter (OTC) withdrawals and Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has published a comprehensive directory containing the contact details and email addresses of its branches nationwide.

The directive, outlined in a circular dated November 29, 2024, is part of the CBN’s strategy to ensure efficient and optimal currency circulation in the Nigerian economy. The circular, signed by the CBN’s Acting Director of Currency Operations, Solaja Olayemi, and Acting Director of Branch Operations, Isa-Olatinwo Aisha, became effective from December 1, 2024.

Key Highlights from the Circular

  1. DMB Compliance Directive
Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) have been mandated to ensure efficient cash disbursement through both OTC channels and ATMs.

    • The CBN will intensify its oversight roles to enforce compliance with this directive.
  2. Public Reporting of Cash Scarcity
Members of the public who experience difficulties in accessing cash are encouraged to report such issues directly to the CBN via the provided channels.

    • Reporting involves submitting relevant details such as account name, bank name, amount, date and time of incident, among others.

Reporting Channels

  1. Phone Calls
    • Call the designated phone number(s) of the CBN branch in the state where the incident occurred.

Details of the phone numbers and email addresses of all 36 CBN state branches are available for the public to access. This move underscores the apex bank’s dedication to transparency and collaboration with Nigerians in solving cash availability challenges.
