Share

iHub Ltd. Kenya’s foremost technology Incubation and Accelerator space based in Nairobi and owned by Co-creation Hub (CcHUB) has today announced its acquisition of eLimu, a leading EdTech firm and digital educational content provider in East Africa.

The goal of the acquisition is to transform eLimu into the Digital Education Platform arm of the company.

eLimu will continue to focus on leveraging cutting edge technology to create interactive and engaging learning content customised to the African context which will be initiated using the existing apps

The acquisition will enable it to scale these apps beyond Kenya.

With an existing audience of approximately 500,000 teachers and learners (and COVID-19 accelerating the pace of growth of eLearning), eLimu is one of many players in the EdTech industry that has seen growth at unprecedented rates.

This acquisition presents a significant opportunity for digitizing the learning experience and increased investment in innovation.

Speaking on the acquisition, eLimu Founder, Nivi Sharma, commented:

“I’m thrilled to see eLimu spread its wings across Africa to make learning fun and engaging for even more children.

eLimu will continue to leverage its deep knowledge of the education system to tap into the opportunity to transform learning everywhere.”

‘Bosun Tijani, Chief Executive Officer, CcHUB, adds “Education is the bedrock of healthy societies.

‘As we continue to contribute to shaping the innovation ecosystem in Africa, accelerating the application of innovation and technology in improving education outcomes will be crucial to driving our overall agenda.”

This move reinforces CCHub’s commitment to continue to support innovations aimed at enhancing learning outcomes through the adoption of 21st-century learning methods in communities across the continent.

With his impressive track record in building high-performing and lucrative technology products for the Gaming industry, Abiola Olaniran will form part of the management team as eLimu’s Chief Technology Officer.

Abiola is the Founder and CEO of Gamesole, one of the first Gaming companies in Africa.

His experience in application development will play a key role in transforming eLimu into the leading digital educational content provider on the continent.

In August 2020, iHub opened the iHub Teachers’ Lounge, a space for Teachers to access training on 21st-century teaching skills such as content creation and online teaching tools for richer methods of teaching and collaboration in the classroom.

Last month, eLimu was listed on the HolonIQ Africa EdTech50. HolonIQ is the most sophisticated education market datasets and intelligence platform in the world.
