In a significant move at the 28th edition Conference of the Parties (COP28) in Dubai, the Cross River State Government inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Oando Clean Energy (OCEL), the renewable energy arm of Oando Energy Resources. This MoU focuses on the deployment of electric vehicles (EVs) for mass transportation and establishing a 100MW wind plant for power generation within the state.

At the signing ceremony, the state’s Commissioner for Special Duties, Oden Ewa, who represented the Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, highlighted the importance of this collaboration in advancing the state towards a more sustainable future. He emphasized that the agreement signifies a transition to cleaner and more cost-effective fuels for the mass transit system while harnessing wind energy for electrification purposes.

Commending Oando Clean Energy for its innovative solutions in addressing climate change impacts in Nigeria, Ewa lauded the MoU as a landmark achievement.

Dr. Ainojie Irune, President/CEO of Oando Clean Energy, reiterated the company’s dedication to achieving a cleaner and more sustainable energy future. He underscored Oando Clean Energy’s commitment, spanning across the 35 states of Nigeria and the FCT, aiming to progressively create a cleaner and more viable energy ecosystem for the nation and its people.
