Wole Oshin, Founder and Group Managing Director of Custodian Investment Plc, revealed that the Custodian Mentorship Conference has empowered over 5,000 young entrepreneurs since its launch in 2018. He made this announcement at the sixth edition of the conference, held in Lagos.
Oshin expressed pride in the positive impact the conference has made on the youth, emphasizing the importance of mentorship in shaping future leaders. “I didn’t have mentors guiding me, but I learned by observing those I admired,” Oshin shared, highlighting his personal journey as the inspiration behind creating a platform where experienced professionals could share their knowledge with aspiring entrepreneurs.
He further explained that Custodian Group volunteers continue to mentor participants even after the conference ends. “We aim to support our mentees beyond this program, which is why we partnered with Alder Consulting, knowing we cannot do it alone,” Oshin added.
Olubunmi Aderemi, Chief Executive Officer of the Custodian Social Responsibility Foundation, described the conference as a flagship initiative of the foundation. He also outlined the foundation’s recent interventions, including rehabilitating roads in Sabo, Yaba, supporting flood victims in Bodija, Ibadan, and constructing an Accident and Emergency Centre in Epe, Lagos.
The event featured prominent speakers, including comedian Atunyota Akpobome (Ali Baba), fashion entrepreneur Adenike Ogunlesi, and music artist Jude Abaga (MI).
Ali Baba emphasized the importance of education, networking, understanding societal dynamics, and financial management in achieving success. He also highlighted the need for adaptability, good habits, and the responsibility of mentoring others.
Adenike Ogunlesi urged participants to take control of their lives, stating, “Your life is your biggest investment.” Meanwhile, MI spoke on the importance of being intentional in pursuing dreams, advising mentees to clearly define their goals and stay focused on their journey to success.
