Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has announced a further reduction of N15 in the price of its high-quality petrol, reinforcing its commitment to making fuel more affordable across Nigeria. With this latest adjustment, petrol prices are now set at N875 per litre in Lagos, N885 in the South West, N895 in the North West and North Central regions, and N905 per litre in the South East, South South, and North East.
These prices will be consistent across all Dangote partners, including MRS, Ardova (AP), Heyden, Optima Energy, Techno Oil, and Hyde. The refinery has encouraged other marketers to join its growing network, supporting President Bola Tinubu’s Nigeria First policy, which emphasizes the prioritization of locally produced goods and services.
Since beginning operations, Dangote Petroleum Refinery has actively pursued cost-cutting strategies to pass savings to Nigerians. Notably, in February 2025, it implemented two price reductions totaling N125 per litre, followed by an additional N45 per litre cut in April. Besides petrol, the company has also lowered prices on diesel and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), easing costs for transportation, industry, and household energy use.
Despite global crude oil price volatility, the refinery has assured Nigerians of price stability, reaffirming its role in strengthening Nigeria’s energy security and economic resilience. Operating the world’s largest single-train refinery, Dangote Petroleum plays a critical role in reducing foreign exchange dependency. The company credited President Tinubu’s Naira-for-Crude Initiative as a key enabler for sustained price reductions, aligning with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at tackling economic challenges and enhancing citizens’ welfare.
Furthermore, Dangote Petroleum Refinery guarantees a steady supply of petroleum products with enough reserves to meet domestic demand, while maintaining a surplus for export. This not only supports local markets but also boosts Nigeria’s foreign exchange earnings.
In a related highlight, Aliko Dangote, the founder of the refinery, was recently named among the inaugural 2025 TIME100 Philanthropy list. This recognition places him alongside global philanthropic leaders such as Michael Bloomberg and Oprah Winfrey. The Dangote Foundation, under his leadership, invests an average of \$35 million annually in initiatives across Africa, underlining his influence beyond business into impactful charitable work.
