Dangote Refinery to Begin Nationwide Fuel Distribution August 15 with Free Logistics, Credit Support
Share

In a major step toward transforming Nigeria’s energy landscape, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced it will commence nationwide distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel from August 15, 2025. The move is set to reshape fuel access and pricing across the country, with a focus on affordability, efficiency, and sustainability.

According to a statement released on Sunday, the distribution targets a wide range of stakeholders including independent marketers, fuel station operators, manufacturers, telecom firms, aviation companies, and other large-scale users. The initiative comes with a strong logistics support system designed to eliminate transportation costs—offering fuel delivery at no additional charge.

To drive this effort, Dangote Refinery has invested in 4,000 brand-new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers. These vehicles form the core of a sustainable and cost-effective distribution network that supports both environmental goals and economic efficiency. The refinery is also developing a network of daughter booster CNG stations, supported by over 100 transport vehicles, to ensure last-mile delivery to even the most remote areas.

“This strategic programme is part of our broader commitment to eliminating logistics costs, enhancing energy efficiency, promoting sustainability and supporting Nigeria’s economic development,” the refinery stated.

Fuel stations and corporate clients sourcing PMS or diesel directly from the refinery will benefit from complimentary delivery services, reducing their operational overheads and contributing to broader economic stability. Sectors such as manufacturing and telecommunications are expected to experience relief from high energy costs, potentially slowing inflation and boosting productivity.

To further support bulk buyers, Dangote Refinery has introduced a credit facility. Any buyer purchasing a minimum of 500,000 litres will be eligible to receive an additional 500,000 litres on credit for two weeks, provided they present a valid bank guarantee. This facility is seen as a game-changer for distributors and large-scale users who face financing challenges in fuel procurement.

The company also anticipates the initiative will revive dormant fuel stations, create jobs, boost small and medium enterprises, and increase revenue inflow for the government. The refinery described the programme as a significant shift in Nigeria’s midstream and downstream sectors, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for inclusive economic reform and development.

In appreciation, the refinery acknowledged the Federal Government’s support, especially through the Naira-for-Crude initiative, which has played a key role in stabilising local fuel supply amid volatile global markets.

Registration and Know Your Customer (KYC) verification for interested stakeholders began on June 16 and will run through August 15, giving marketers, businesses, and station operators 60 days to formalise their participation.

With this launch, Dangote Refinery is positioning itself as a major force in Nigeria’s fuel supply chain, offering a model that combines affordability, accessibility, and innovation to drive national growth.
