Dufil Prima Foods has extended its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts to visually impaired students at Aperin Oniyere Grammar School in Ibadan, Oyo State, by donating assistive devices to enhance their learning experience. This initiative demonstrates the company’s commitment to promoting inclusive opportunities for students with special needs.
During the event, Group Corporate Communications and Event Manager, Temitope Ashiwaju, handed over the assistive tools, including Braille machines, typewriters, digital recorders, and mobility canes, to the school’s principal, Olusegun Oregbesan. The ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Nigeria Association of the Blind (Oyo Chapter), Olufemi Ojeniyi, along with the school’s vice principal and other staff members.
In addition to the devices, Dufil Prima Foods pledged to cover the WAEC examination fees for the school’s SS3 students, ensuring financial barriers do not hinder their educational progress. Speaking on the initiative, Ashiwaju highlighted the struggles visually impaired students face in accessing quality education.
“We understand the unique challenges these students face, such as limited resources and the need for specialized tools. That’s why we’ve decided to support them,” Ashiwaju said. He also noted that this effort is part of Dufil Prima Foods’ broader CSR activities, which have included similar support for the Pacelli School of the Blind and participation in the annual World Cane Day celebration.
“Our CSR strategy is twofold: we provide scholarships and supply equipment to schools, creating an inclusive learning environment. As a socially responsible company, we recognize that government alone cannot meet all needs, so we are stepping in to help wherever we can,” Ashiwaju added.
The principal, Oregbesan, expressed gratitude for Dufil Prima Foods’ support. “Your generosity has inspired us to continue working hard for these students. We are deeply grateful for your thoughtfulness,” he said.
Similarly, Olufemi Ojeniyi praised the initiative, emphasizing the positive impact the donations will have on the students. “We thank Indomie for remembering people living with disabilities, especially in these tough economic times. Your intervention brings hope to many.”
Following the presentation, the company delighted the school and surrounding community by serving freshly prepared noodles from its Indomie mobile kitchen, making the day even more memorable for the students and staff.
