Benin City came alive with anticipation as key stakeholders gathered for a strategic session ahead of the official launch of Edo Business Connect, Nigeria’s first fully digital business platform, aimed at transforming the entrepreneurial landscape of Edo State.
Spearheaded by the Edo State Investment Promotion Office (ESIPO), in partnership with GIZ and the Edo State Development and Investment Digital Agency (EDODiDA), the initiative represents a bold shift toward digital transformation, economic inclusion, and simplified business processes.
Once operational, the platform will serve as a centralised hub for entrepreneurs, enabling them to register their businesses, access government support, secure funding, and receive timely policy updates—all from one digital interface.
“This is our bold step toward digital transformation and inclusive growth,” said Mr. Amen Odigie, Managing Director of ESIPO. “We are building a future where business registration and support services are accessible, transparent, and streamlined for all.”
Dr. (Mrs.) Ewe Rita Samuropa of EDODiDA stressed the inclusive nature of the platform, designed to be usable by both literate and semi-literate entrepreneurs. She explained that the platform will feature a business directory, funding channels, and a feedback mechanism to swiftly address user challenges, ensuring that no one is left behind.
The session brought together leaders from government, civil society, and the private sector who reaffirmed their commitment to making Edo a leading destination for business innovation in Nigeria.
With the official launch expected before August, Edo Business Connect is set to become a cornerstone of the state’s broader economic agenda—bridging digital divides, improving access to resources, and fostering a business environment where entrepreneurs can thrive.
