According to reports from NAN, Taiwo Olatunbosun, the State Commissioner for Information, announced on Saturday in Ado-Ekiti that the state government is effectively utilizing a World Bank grant. The fund is being used for various purposes, including the construction of new buildings, renovation of old ones, and the erection of perimeter fencing in schools.

Olatunbosun highlighted that part of the grant is allocated for purchasing equipment to benefit all students, including People Living With Disabilities (PLWDs). He mentioned the Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills Project, which aims to enhance the capacity of the skills development system. This project ensures the production of relevant skills for both formal and informal sectors, with a special focus on PLWDs.

Furthermore, Olatunbosun disclosed that a significant portion of the fund, amounting to N546.9 million, was utilized to cover the senior school certificate examination (SSCE) fees for 16,269 students. This initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting education, as all SS3 students in public schools, including PLWDs, benefited from the payment of WAEC/SSCE fees.

In conclusion, the commissioner urged residents to rally behind the state government’s efforts to enhance the quality of life for all PLWDs, emphasizing the importance of collective support in making these initiatives successful.
