Empowering Women Across Africa: The African Women Impact Summit Returns for Its 4th Edition
Share

The African Women Impact Summit (AWIS), a prominent initiative focused on empowering African women, is gearing up for its 4th Edition. Scheduled for November 9 and 10, 2024, at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, this year’s event is themed ‘The Africa We Want 4.0: Sustainable Leadership to Unlocking Women’s Potential.’

The summit will feature a panel session on November 9 and culminate in an Awards and Gala Night on November 10. The event is anticipated to attract participants from over 30 African countries, all coming together to enhance women’s roles in leadership and expand their presence across various industries.

Yvonne Ebbi, chairman of the central planning committee for AWIS 2024, emphasized the summit’s objective of leveraging the influence of the diaspora for Africa’s development. Ebbi highlighted the importance of fostering financial independence among women and creating a broader awareness of their potential. “Women need to realize their power and the difference they can make anywhere in Africa and beyond. We aim to harness this strength to build a better society,” she stated.

Utchay Odims, co-founder of AWIS, underscored that the summit’s primary focus is to spotlight women making significant impacts across Africa and beyond. He also introduced the ‘Project EmpowerHer,’ a series of pre-event activities running from September 7 to 14, 2024. This initiative will provide practical training to 1,500 micro, small, and medium-sized businesswomen in Nigeria. The training will cover topics such as digital marketing and artificial intelligence, designed to maximize productivity and innovation.

Furthermore, the Power-Up Africa initiative will be held from November 4 to 6, 2024, as a precursor to the main summit. This initiative aims to address and bridge the gender gap in leadership and governance roles across the continent.

In addition, the summit has opened its award nomination portal, inviting nominations for African Heroes. These awards seek to recognize individuals who are leveraging their networks to empower women and breaking barriers to inspire future generations.

The AWIS 2024 promises to be a significant event in the ongoing effort to promote women’s leadership and empowerment across Africa.
