In a bid to address Nigeria’s youth unemployment and underemployment crisis, EnterpriseNGR and Youth of Enterprise (YOE) have successfully graduated 120 young Nigerian interns from the third cohort of their internship program. The initiative is part of a broader social impact effort aimed at equipping young people with essential skills for the modern workforce.
Held on October 10, 2024, the graduation marks a major milestone for the six-month program, which saw participants gain hands-on experience across various sectors. These young professionals, representing organizations like Coronation, PwC, Polaris Bank, Access Bank, and more, now stand better prepared for the digital economy.
Themed “Digital Dreams: Forging Successful Careers in a Connected World,” the event emphasized the critical role of digital skills and innovative mindsets in today’s workplace. Obi Ibekwe, CEO of EnterpriseNGR, congratulated the graduates, urging them to apply their newly acquired skills with courage and determination. “Your journey through YOE has equipped you with the skills and knowledge essential for today’s ever-evolving landscape,” she said.
Keynote speaker Pai Gamde, Chief Talent Officer at Coronation Group, highlighted the importance of adaptability, creativity, and continuous learning in the digital age. “The digital age is about agility and creativity. Embrace challenges as opportunities to innovate and grow,” she advised the graduates.
Joy Abara, Head of Programmes at EnterpriseNGR, encouraged the young professionals to maintain the YOE spirit, remarking, “The skills, network, and experiences you’ve gained here will serve as a foundation for your professional growth.” She also announced the top three performing groups and the overall best intern, who were awarded cash prizes and certificates of merit.
EnterpriseNGR continues to be committed to empowering Nigeria’s youth through its YOE Internship Programme, offering a platform for young professionals to thrive in the competitive job market. Organizations interested in partnering with YOE to shape the next generation of leaders are encouraged to reach out to the program.
This initiative demonstrates the vital role of public-private partnerships in addressing Nigeria’s workforce skill gaps, paving the way for a brighter future for the nation’s young talent.
