The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has announced that all payments at its revenue points will transition to a contactless, cashless system starting Monday, September 29, 2025. The new policy, tagged “Operation Go Cashless,” will debut at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja before being rolled out to other airports nationwide.
The move, implemented in partnership with Paystack, will cover payments at access gates, car parks, VIP and protocol lounges, and other revenue points. The Authority said the shift aims to improve efficiency, enhance revenue assurance, and deliver faster, seamless services for travellers and airport users.
Under the new system, passengers can obtain a FAAN Go Cashless Card at any access gate in Lagos and Abuja, which can be activated and funded online via [www.gocashless.faan.gov.ng]. Trained brand ambassadors will also be stationed at terminals and access points to guide users, assist with onboarding, and demonstrate how to use the contactless payment options.

The Authority manages 23 airports across Nigeria, including five major international airports. Collectively, these facilities handle more than 18 million passengers annually, with Lagos and Abuja airports accounting for the highest traffic. In 2024, Murtala Muhammed International Airport alone served over 16 million passengers, while Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport handled about 5 million, making them strategic starting points for the cashless rollout.
