FAAN Warns Nigerians Against Fake AVSEC Recruitment Portal
Share

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has warned the public to ignore a fake online advertisement claiming that Aviation Security personnel were being recruited through a link linked to the agency. The authority said the message, which has been widely circulated on social media, did not originate from FAAN and should be dismissed by Nigerians seeking genuine job information.

In a statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, FAAN described the publication as fake and misleading. He explained that the authority was alerted to the fraudulent notice after it began spreading across online platforms with a link presented as an official recruitment portal. FAAN stressed that it is not conducting any recruitment exercise for its security department and warned the public against clicking suspicious links or submitting personal data to unknown sources.

The agency urged Nigerians to stay vigilant, report suspicious websites, and rely only on verified FAAN communication channels for updates concerning employment or any official activity. It noted that recruitment information is never released through unverified links and that the authority will always publish authentic announcements through its official platforms.

Fake recruitment schemes continue to target unsuspecting Nigerians, often impersonating government ministries, departments, and agencies. FAAN had previously issued a similar warning in 2021 when another fraudulent recruitment advert circulated using its name. The aviation sector has also witnessed controversies around hiring processes, including a 2019 directive suspending FAAN’s fire rescue recruitment following allegations that shortlisted candidates were replaced by politically connected applicants.

Other government bodies have faced comparable impersonation attempts. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had to disown a fake recruitment campaign earlier this year, while the National Population Commission also warned Nigerians against a counterfeit website claiming to hire staff for the 2025 census. These repeated incidents reinforce the need for Nigerians, especially job seekers and MSMEs interested in aviation-related opportunities, to verify information only through official channels to avoid falling victim to fraudulent schemes.
