Facebook is set to take centre stage at the 2026 African Creators Summit, offering hands-on experiences to connect with Africa’s growing digital talent. The summit will hold on Thursday, 29 January, at Lagos’s Federal Palace Hotel, bringing together creators, storytellers, innovators, and digital entrepreneurs.
This year’s theme, “Building a Sustainable Ecosystem Where Africa Trades Its Swag,” aligns with Facebook’s push to equip creators with tools for audience growth, monetisation, discovery, and community engagement. The company said its presence will give participants immersive experiences aimed at supporting Africa’s burgeoning creator economy.
Oluwasola Obagbemi, Head of Communications, Sub-Saharan Africa at Meta, said, “We are dedicated to empowering creators in the communities they’re already active in so they can succeed and grow on Facebook while sharing original and engaging content.” She added that events like the African Creators Summit show how Facebook connects people, helps creators reach global audiences, and enables them to earn across multiple content formats.
The summit will bring together creators, young adults, and Nigerian celebrities, offering opportunities to collaborate and create memorable moments at the Facebook-themed booth. Attendees will engage in interactive experiences that highlight authentic connection, community-building, and the power of real relationships, reinforcing Facebook’s role as a platform for meaningful engagement across Africa.
Oladapo Adewunmi, convener of the summit, described creators as “the teachers and architects of modern culture. What they build today becomes the standard tomorrow, shaping how we dress, think, and show up in the world.” He added, “The African Creators Summit was created to bridge creators, businesses, platforms, policymakers, and partners across Africa. Facebook’s continued support reflects a commitment to creators, their stories, and their power to drive global impact from Africa.”
Over the years, Facebook has evolved to meet creators’ changing needs through Groups, Video, and Marketplace. The summit positions itself as more than an event, it is a catalyst for a diverse, inclusive, and future-focused Pan-African creative ecosystem, reinforcing Facebook’s role in powering creativity and connection across the continent.
