Federal Government Launches $609 Million Fund for Nigerian Tech Entrepreneurs
Share

During the 2023 Nordic Nigeria Connect event in Lagos, Minister Bosun Tijani announced the launch of a $609 million fund dedicated to supporting tech entrepreneurs in Nigeria for the next four years.

Highlighting the vital role of telecommunications in the country, Tijani emphasized the necessity of forging partnerships that facilitate citizen access to these services. He stressed the importance of building relationships with innovative organizations globally to leverage existing knowledge and opportunities without duplicating efforts.

The minister emphasized the need for both government and the private sector to collaborate in creating the Nigeria needed for advancement, encouraging constructive criticism with substantiated facts to drive governmental improvements.

This initiative follows the earlier launch, led by former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in March, of a $600 million program focused on supporting young Nigerians in the technology and creative sectors. Osinbajo called on African governments and the private sector to intensify efforts in nurturing innovation and technological growth across the continent.
