Federal Government Resolves NIN and other Technical Issues in Presidential Conditional Grant Program
Share

The federal government has announced the resolution of technical problems related to the uploading of National Identification Numbers (NIN) for participants in the Presidential Conditional Grant Programme, also known as the trade grant scheme.

The Presidential Conditional Grant Program targets Nano Businesses as part of the Presidential Palliative Program, offering a grant of N50,000.00 per beneficiary with the aim of supporting one million nano businesses across the 774 local government areas.

Minister of Trade and Investment, Doris Uzoka-Anite, disclosed that the scheme, initially scheduled to commence on March 9, 2024, faced delays due to technical difficulties in uploading applicants’ NIN to the initiative’s portal. However, she assured that all technical issues have now been resolved, expressing gratitude to the applicants for their patience.

Earlier directives from the federal government stipulated that all participants in the trade grant program must link their NIN to their bank accounts to be eligible for the grants. This requirement aligns with the Central Bank of Nigeria’s directive on account verification with NIN, as stated by Minister Uzoka-Anite.

To facilitate the process, applicants will receive an SMS from ‘FGGRANTLOAN’ with instructions to submit their NIN via a secure link. Only verified applicants will receive this notification, and NINs must match the applicant’s name for the process to proceed.

In December 2023, the Federal Government of Nigeria launched an application portal for the Presidential Conditional Grant for Nano Businesses under the Presidential Palliative Program. Selection criteria will involve collaboration with State Governments, Ministers, NASME, Senators, and Members of the House of Representatives, with a focus on inclusivity by allocating spots based on specific demographics and criteria.
