Over 1,000 women in Kano State are set to benefit from a poultry and fish farming empowerment programme, with each participant receiving financial support of up to ₦500,000. The initiative is being implemented by the National Productivity Centre (NPC) as part of efforts to boost women’s economic participation and enhance productivity in the agricultural sector.

The Director General of the NPC, Dr. Baffa Babba Dan Agundi, announced the initiative while addressing the beneficiaries in Kano. He explained that the programme aims to equip women with practical skills in poultry and fish farming and provide them with the capital needed to start or expand their businesses.

Dr. Agundi said forms have already been distributed to participants for enrollment in the training phase, which will precede the disbursement of the financial packages. He emphasized that the support was part of his earlier commitment to empower women and has now been fulfilled through this intervention.

“After completing the training, each participant will receive up to ₦500,000 to establish or scale up their poultry and fish farming ventures,” he stated.

He expressed appreciation to Abba Kabir Abubakar Bichi for his contribution towards fulfilling the programme’s promises to the community and for supporting various empowerment initiatives across the state.

Speaking further during a meeting with cluster chairmen, women leaders, and representatives of Tinubu Support Groups in Kano, Dr. Agundi commended the unity and dedication of the members. He urged them to continue mobilizing support and reaffirmed that the empowerment drive was part of a broader commitment to improving livelihoods and sustaining economic inclusion at the grassroots level.

He assured participants that the distribution of resources and financial support would continue monthly as part of NPC’s ongoing efforts to enhance productivity and reduce poverty among women entrepreneurs in the state.
