The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs has launched the EmpowerHer Digital Financial Literacy Programme to strengthen women’s participation in the financial system and enhance their capacity to build sustainable enterprises.
Speaking during the virtual launch, the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, said the initiative is a strategic step under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda to drive economic inclusion through women-led businesses.
Implemented in partnership with Kudimata Nigeria Ltd, the programme is designed to provide women with practical tools for managing personal and business finances, fostering digital participation, and improving access to financial services.
Financial institutions such as Microvis Microfinance Bank and Novo Microfinance Bank have pledged institutional support through business advisory services, tailored credit facilities, and seed funding for outstanding participants.
Kathleen Erhimu, Founder of Kudimata, described the initiative as a platform for women to build financial confidence and participate more meaningfully in Nigeria’s evolving business landscape.
She explained that the programme focuses on four key areas, financial literacy, capacity development, access to finance, and market linkages, aimed at helping women transition from informal to structured business operations.
The EmpowerHer initiative reinforces the government’s ongoing efforts to expand financial inclusion and support women entrepreneurs as key drivers of micro and small business growth across the country.
